What is CBT?

Lantern Psychotherapy provides one-to-one, evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for a range of Anxiety problems and Depression.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy which focuses on the connections between the way we feel, how we think, and what we do. Through understanding how these areas influence each other, and identifying the unhelpful patterns we can become stuck in, we can begin to make changes that help us to feel better.

You will work with your therapist in a structured and collaborative way to understand how your difficulties developed and what is keeping them going, and to learn strategies which can help you in the here and now. Between-session work, such as monitoring symptoms and trying out new skills, is an important part of CBT.

CBT has been widely researched, and is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) for a wide range of problems, including depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Online Therapy

There is a growing body of research showing that therapy delivered over the phone and online is as effective as more traditional face-to-face therapy, as well as potentially offering a number of additional benefits, such as enabling you to access therapy from the comfort of your own home. We believe that providing therapy online can combine the best of both worlds – allowing you to access therapy in a way that is convenient for you, whilst maintaining the advantages of a face-to-face relationship with your therapist.
